It's been a while since I've worked on anything 3D related but I've been thrilled to be back on the creative side of things. I modeled the wine glass and ashtray in Maya. The cigar was modeled in Zbrush. The details such as the frost, the 7 dot design, and scratches on the ashtray and the cigar wrap and ash were textured in Substance Painter. I also found a suitable hdr file to light this scene. My main goal of doing this project was to continue improving modeling skills, learning different pipelines to transfer information from one software to the next, and to produce a photorealistic result. Although this project seemed easy at first the hardest part for me was figuring how to do the smoke effect. I initially tried to use particles in Maya but couldn't get the result I was looking for. In the end, I was able to use Photopea (a free online photo editor) to use a couple of standard brushes (in dissolve mode) to create a smoke trail and add a Gaussian Blur to achieve my final result.
